DUI & Personal Injury

Ian Pancer - Trial Lawyer

Having handled hundreds of DUI cases and undergone extensive, specialized training in the art and science of DUI defense, Ian Pancer is an expert San Diego DUI attorney. He has experienced more hours of  training on the administration and performance of field sobriety tests than most law enforcement officers, and he has comprehensive knowledge of the science underpinning the operation of blood and breath testing device.

Mr. Pancer attended UCSB as a Regents Scholar and graduated from the prestigious USD School of Law. He began his career practicing general criminal defense. Before developing his focus on DUI defense and Personal Injury law, Mr. Pancer represented clients in a wide variety of criminal and civil matters in both state and federal court.

His experience is both broad and deep, having handled cases ranging from misdemeanor battery to felony armed robbery; from petty theft to large scale fraud. Some of the high profile, nationally known matters that Mr. Pancer has been involved in include the Hewlett-Packard pretesting case, Federal seizures from payment processors for online gaming sites, and the San Diego pension case. His experience runs the gamut from federal court, to state court, to administrative hearings, to petitions for writs of mandamus.

On the civil side, Mr, Pancer’s experience is equally broad. He has successfully litigated against multimillion dollar, Fortune 500 companies. Aside from personal injury law, he has experience in cases as varied as employment litigation, products liability, RICO, police abuse, anti-SLAPP, misleading advertising, business litigation, Uniform Commercial Code, administrative hearings, preliminary and permanent injunctions, and contract disputes.

But before anything else, Attorney Ian Pancer is a trial lawyer. He works hard, puts his clients first, and never hesitates to take his gloves off in the courtroom. He focuses on two areas of law: DUI defense and Personal Injury litigation. He is equally at home protecting his clients’ constitutional rights against infringement by an overreaching government as he is litigating against insurance companies who seek to withhold fair compensation from those who have been injured through no fault of their own. Mr. Pancer is passionate about standing up against the government and insurance companies because both of those faceless, compassion-less entities seek to use their power and influence to take advantage of and oppress those without the knowledge or resources to fight back on their own.

Mr. Pancer’s DUI defense and personal injury practices complement each other. The fact is that most personal injury cases settle out before a lawsuit is filed, and only a small fraction of those cases that are filed actually go to trial. Unlike personal injury cases, DUI cases require Mr. Pancer to be in court several times a week and go to trial on a regular basis. For that reason he – unlike many other Personal Injury attorneys – is always in practice and warmed-up to fight. By the same token, his personal injury cases, which can require him to manage thousands of pages of medical records and sift through thousands of pages of depositions transcripts, give him an edge over many DUI attorneys when it comes to organizing and preparing for trial.
